| So, Soul has always been a kickass friend (I figured I'd use kickass instead of "good" because it sounds more like I mean it), and he always gives me little presents (siggies). So, I figured I'd be the good friend now and make him a present back.
Unfortunately, I don't have very many artsy skills, so I figured it'd have to be something with programming involved. So...I had recently heard that Soul enjoys Winamp for his music storing, and I happen to have this little program called Autohotkey...
Well, I has maded you (Soul) a present.
Now, this post is kinda premature cause it's not completely done yet, but the basic features and commands are all set.
Basically, it pulls up a GUI window with an editing field that you can type a keyword into. As you type, the field updates with the names of all of your music files that contain the keyword you typed in, then you can select any of the music files and either make a playlist with it or have it directly play from Winamp. Then, I set up a system that takes input from your keyboard media keys (see below for a description of later updates that'll let you use keys other than media) that will let you play, pause, stop, restart, skip/go back a track, increase/decrease volume, and fast forward/rewind all while Winamp just sits in the background minimized.
So all of the commands and the GUI window are ready, but right now it'll only let you make one playlist, so I need to fix that. Eventually it'll be a completely separate GUI window to edit playlists, but that may take some time. Also, I'm making an INI file that corresponds to the macro so you can alter which keys you want to use for all of the commands. I'll include instructions on how to do this when I release the macro.
If you want anything else put into it (perhaps a way to check which track is playing or something) I'm always happy to experiment.
Hope you like your potential present.
EDIT: In the future I may also include a feature that will allow you to also go through your picture files and display them, resize them, save them, etc. without having to use any sort of editor (the picture will simply show up on your screen). It will be some time before this feature will be implemented, but it'll be something to look forward to.

| I can give you a present in the form of a line of shell script that may end every single program on your computer. Do you want that, too, Soul?

| Just read all of this (You won't find me online during weekends), and I am very greatful. Demo, that would be an awesome thing. The only problem I think you might have that I have seen with other Winamp AHK programs, is that you have to do something special when it is minimized to your tray. (Didn't download any just read about it.) I love it. Thank you. Just to show how happy I am: Nitro: I would expect that from you. <3 -Soul | |

| Ha, Elmo sucks.
Anyway, it doesn't have to. It calls it as the lastfound window so you just send it to the ahk_parent control and it'll work fine.
And what the hell is with "sudo", Nitro? And on that note, it's grateful, soul, not greatful.
Just here to make sure you guys are prepared for the future.

It's 'cause you might have to have more power than Soul's account does on his computer to do certain things.

Actually, I do want a command that'll show a chicken, but not have it be related to Chicken in any way...have it be like :ThisIsNotForChicken: or something.

Now that I've said that Soul will probably make it for Chicken just to spite me...

| So, I'm making some headway on the present for you. Wait, this is the right topic for this, right? Oh yeah, just hard to tell what with all the going on. Anyway, I've updated it so you can review all of the information on your currently-playing track in Winamp through the GUI window that pulls up with my macro rather than having to check with Winamp, so you can minimize it and just throw your window up when you want it to bug you, or constantly have it viewing on your alternate monitor (which it will display on by default if it exists). In addition, I have made a tabbing system so you can switch between viewing modes: player (what was the original macro), playlist editor (can now support any amount of playlists), and options (not yet implemented). I'm excited about what I can do with this. Things to look forward to in the future: The first priority is going to be making it so you can run multiple root directories of music, because right now the list box is set up to display music based on its full file path minus the C:\Users\User\Music part (or wherever your file is located) and then just add it on when you play. I want to fix that, and I will. Second, include the options into the macro. I'm not really sure what this is going to include right now, so I want you guys to give me ideas. Do you want to be able to change general views of the GUI window (such as background color), be able to change the way it displays the lists, etc. Whatever goes. Third, and most difficult, I want to make it so you can run all of your music independently from Winamp by installing a DLL file that will call the music files (as long as they are MP3, WMA, or WAV) and allows you to manipulate them strictly through your keyboard motions. This means that all of your music-playing will be incredibly light-weight and virtually seamless. I hope you guys are excited about this, because I love doing it. Please give me all of the suggestions you can think of so I can keep this thing going and interesting. | |

| First, do not make this so complicated that I will be scared to press a button, that it will blow up if I do something wrong. Yet, don't make it user-friendly. I am Soul. I like being lazy, yet I like a challenge. I like the color scheme idea like it has on Winamp and Xfire (on Winamp, especially, because you can download color schemes and it will run a program to install it).
Have fun programming!
